Female Student-Athlete of the Week
Arin Rife- Softball
We award the Female Student-Athlete of the Week honor to women's softball player Arin Rife for helping her squad earn four victories on the week.
The sophomore had an outstanding week helping ALC as she went 3-0 and had a save across four appearances inside the circle for the Eagles. She had a 0.39 earned run average and recorded 29 strikeouts across 18 innings.
Rife had nine strikeouts in a 3-2 win against Bluefield University (Virginia) last Tuesday. The runs allowed in that game were unearned. The Grundy, Virginia, native added 10 strikeouts and scattered three hits in a 10-2 victory against Kent State Tuscarawas last Friday.
For her efforts, Rife was named the NCCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week as well as the Continental Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.
With their four wins this week, the Lady Eagles improve to 28-12 on the year and are ranked #4 nationally in the latest NCCAA poll.
Male Student-Athlete of the Week
Sunny Smith
We award the Male Student-Athlete of the Week honor to men's baseball player Sunny Smith for helping his squad earn a road victory.
In the Eagles 5-4 victory at Wright State Lake, Smith faced all batters except one, as he went 6.2 innings. He allowed only 5 hits and 4 runs with 3 strikeouts. He issued just 2 walks
The Eagles record currently stands at 25-13 and are ranked #10 nationally in the latest NCCAA poll.
