Alice Lloyd Eagle duo of Ben Soumahoro and Jared Strickland Named NCCAA Third-Team All American, Brown, Curry and Strickland named Scholar-Athletes

GREENVILLE, SC- The NCCAA has just announced its national awards for the 2023-24 season. Alice Lloyd College Eagle forward Ben Soumahoro and guard Jared Strickland were both selected as an elite NCCAA Third Team All-American.

Soumahoro, a senior from Lawrenceville Georgia. had an impressive season.  Despite several injuries that hampered him throughout the semester, he finished the year averaging 14.6 ppg while shooting 56.2% from the field and 60% from the free throw line. Additionally, he added 6.8 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.5 steals per contest. He finished fifteenth in the NAIA River States Conference in field goal percentage, tenth in total rebounds and tenth in steals.

His season high was 29 points on three occasions, while his rebounding high was 14, assist high was 6 and steals high was 6.

Furthermore, he helped lead the Eagles to the NCCAA Mideast Regional Championship, and a berth in the NCCAA DI National Championship, where the squad finished 2-1 in the tournament and earned fifth place.

Strickland, a senior from Kingsport, Tennessee. had an impressive season as well. He led the club in scoring at 16.5ppg while shooting 47% from the field, 43% from long range and 71% from the free throw line. Additionally, he added 5.18 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.78 steals, and 1 block per night. He finished fourth in 3PT- percentage, sixth in steals and fourteenth in scoring in the NAIA River States Conference.

His season high was 33 points while his rebounding high was 12, assist high was 5 and steals high was 4, on six occasions.

Furthermore, he helped lead the Eagles to the NCCAA Mideast Regional Championship, and a berth in the NCCAA DI National Championship, where the squad finished 2-1 in the tournament and earned fifth place.

In addition, the Scholar Athletes list was announced, and ALC placed three individuals on that club. Sophomore Jack Brown, junior Jacob Curry and senior Jared Strickland were each honored for their scholastic achievements.
