ALC Eagles drop late decision to Toccoa Falls University

Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd Eagles returned home on Friday, November 15th  to battle the Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles for the second straight day. Similar to Friday, the contest was close, but on this ocassion, the scoreboard favored the visitors, who held on late for a 78-75 decision.

In the first half, the visiting squad started well with five quick points. From there, the two clubs would basically trade buckets as the Falls managed to cling to their lead. A pair of last second free throws from Caney Creek junior guard Landon Napier cut the deficit to just two (36-34) at intermission.

As the second half opened, Alice Lloyd produced a nice 9-2  burst to move on top 43-38 at 17:36. However, Toccoa Falls would respond over the next five minutes by rolling off their own 13-2 run. Suddenly at 12:30, they led 51-45.

Over the final remainder of the contest, the Pippa Passes posse stayed close behind the scoring of freshman forward Evin Eversole, and finally knotted the score at 73-73 with 1:21 remaining.  But on this night, a big jumper in the paint and trio of free throws enabled the Georgia club to preserve the close victory

For ALC (2-4) Eversole led the club with another double-double, as he produced 20 points and 10 rebounds.  He also led the club with 4 assists, 5 steals, and 1 block.

Napier  shot well, delivering 19 points on 7-10 accuracy, while senior guard Koji Anderson chipped in with 13 points, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block.

On the night, the Eagles shot 43.5% (30-69) from the field, 27.6% (8-29) from long range, and only 50% (7-14) from the foul line. They added 32 rebounds, 13 assists, 9 steals, and 2 blocks.

Toccoa (1-4) was paced by Raheem Kone with 25 points and 15 rebounds. His team shot 43.5% (27-62) from the field, 30% (6-20) from long range, and 69.2% (18-26) from the charity stripe. They added 47 rebounds, 14 assists, 5 steals, and 2 blocks.
