ALC Eagles comeback falls short, fall to Grace Christian University

Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd Eagles returned home on Friday, November 22nd to battle the Grace Christian University Tigers (MI). The hosts, plagued by frigid shooting all game long, fell behind by 25 and made a massive rally, before dropping a 88-77 decision.

In the first half, the hosts started well, draining back-to-back bombs, but the Michigan team regrouped to knot the score at 16-16 with 9:58 remaining. From that point, ALC went ice cold as they could not buy a basket. The Tigers took advantage of this and went on a run. When they hit a jumper at the buzzer, they would hold a 39-29 advantage at intermission.

As the second half opened, Alice Lloyd hoped to get off to a good start. Unfortunately, in the first three minutes, sparked by 7 straight points from Brayden Gable , Grace jumped ahead, 46-29. Things then went from bad to worse for the blue and white. Over the next five minutes, the home goal still appeared to have a lid on it. and GCU ran the score to 61-36 at 12:13.

After that, ALC woke up. Sparked by 31 combined points from senior guard Koji Anderson and freshman forward Evin Eversole,  the Caney boys went on a massive run to get within six (80-74) with 1:22 showing.

However, Grace would sink 8-10 late free throws to regain control and salt the game away.

For ALC (2-7) Anderson and Eversole led the club with 25 and 15 points respectively. Eversole also led the squad with 10 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals.

On the night, the Eagles shot a chilly 37.2% (29-78) from the field, only 19.5% (8-41) from long range, and 73.3% (11-15) from the foul line. They added 39 rebounds, 12 assists, and 10 steals.

The Tigers (5-4) were paced by Gables game-high 28 points. His team shot 52.5% (31-59) from the field, 35% (7-20) from long range, and 61.3% (19-31) from the charity stripe. They added 46 rebounds, 17 assists, and 6 steals.
