Napier's blazing effort propels ALC Eagles to 108-88 victory over Boyce Bulldogs
Pippa Passes, KY: Alice Lloyd junior forward Landon Napier pumped in a career-high 32 points to lead the Eagles to a 108-88 victory over the Boyce College Bulldogs. The high-octane clinic took place on Saturday afternoon.
In the first half, the hosts got out of the gates strong as all five starters scored to push the Caney Creek crew to a 24-12 advantage with 12:19 showing on the clock.
However, sparked by the one-two scoring punch from guards Ben Cox and Josh Sangalli, the Louisville squad responded with a 23-11 burst to knot things at 35-35 with 3:41 remaining. Fortunately, Napier and senior guard Koji Anderson would combine for 11 points to help the hosts close on a 17-10 run of their own. This would enable the Pippa Passes posse to go into intermission holding a 52-45 advantage.
In the second half, Boyce's Cox scored five quick points to make the score 57-52 with 17:01 showing. Fortunately, from this point, the hometown fans would see the momentum change in a big way.
Over the next 5:29, the blue and white caught fire on offense and clamped down on defense. They would unleash a massive 24-3 blitzkreig, and lead 81-55. From there, the hosts remained in control as they cruised to the impressive victory.
For Alice Lloyd (6-13), five players achieved double-figures. Napier produced a monster-game with his career-high 32 points on an impressive 8-10 accuracy, including 8-9 trifectas He also was 8-9 from the free throw line, and grabbed 6 rebounds. He was followed by Anderson with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 4 steals. The Louisville native joined the 1,000 career-points club in the win.
In addition, freshman forward Evin Eversole, delivered his eleventh double-double on the season, with 15 points and 11 caroms. He added a pair of blocks. Also, the junior duo of guard Desmier Hatchett and forward Naz Welch chipped in with 11 and 10 points respectively.
ALC shot a solid 50% (32-64) from the floor, 53.8% (14-26) from deep, and an impressive 88.2% (30-34) from the foul line. They added 39 rebounds, 17 assists and 9 steals.
BC (6-12) was led by Cox and Sangalli with 29 and 25 points recpectively. Their squad shot 40% (26-65) from the floor, 38.9% (14-36) from deep, and 78.6% 22-28 from the foul line. They added 30 rebounds, 15 assists and 7 steals.
