Alice Lloyd Soccer Travels to Tennessee to Battle Crown College

Powell, TN:  The Alice Lloyd College Eagles journeyed to the Volunteer state on Thursday, September 28th to play the Crown College Crusaders. The hosts grabbed control early and held on for a 4-1 win.

The Tennessee squad saw Jansen Gregory connect in the 15th minute to give his team a 1-0 lead. Then in minute 21, Gregory would strike again to double the score (2-0).

Later, in the 34th minute of play, the Crusaders would find the net again. They would enter the locker room at halftime nursing a 3-0 advantage.

In the second half, the score would remain the same until ALC's Josh Gauze drove a swift kick home for his squads first score of the day (3-1). Unfortunately, this would be the only goal the Eagles were able to muster in the contest.

Finally, at minute 85, Gregory would pull of the hat-trick for Crown. His third score of the match, gave his squad a big insurance run (4-1), and would prove to be the final tally.

On the day, the victors (3-4-0) fired 18 shots, compared to the Eagles 17. Alice Lloyd goalie Eli Hayton registered 4 saves and allowed 3 goals, while teammate Christian Winter stopped 7 shots and gave up 1 score. ALC committed just 5 fouls, compared to CC's 6 and the victors led in corner kicks, 4-0. Gauze delivered the lone Caney Creek score.

The Eagles (1-5-0) return to action on Tuesday, October 3rd when they travel to Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
