Alice Lloyd Eagles Soccer hosts Toccoa Falls on Senior Day
Pippa Passes, KY: On October 24th, the Alice Lloyd College Eagles soccer squad played host to the Toccoa Falls (GA) Screaming Eagles in a contest that served as senior day for the Kentucky crew. In a game where the defense controled the action, the Georgia squad would hold on for the 3-1 victory.
Before the contest kicked off, ALC honored seniors Joseph Westphal and Josh Gauze. In the first half, defense was the name of the game, as neither club was able to dent the scoreboard in the early going. Finally, at 20:00, TFU managed to slide a kick into the net to take a 1-0 lead. That score would remain unchanged throughout the remainder of the half.
In the second half, the Kentucky squad fought to tie the game, but at 67:00, Toccoa found paydirt to go ahead 2-0. Then, the visitors got a crucial insurance point ten minutes later to pull ahead, 3-0.
ALC finally connected at 77:00, when Justin Harbaugh went solo for a score to cut into the deficit (3-1). Unfortunately, the Screaming Eagles (record 6-8)were able to hold on until the final buzzer sounded.
On the day, both squads had 10 shots-on-goal. Pippa Passes goalie Joseph Westphal recorded 7 saves, allowing a trio of goals.
ALC (record 5-7-1) returns to action on Monday, October 28th when they host Great Lakes Christian in a 12:00pm matchup.
