Alice Lloyd Soccer drops late decision at Toccoa Falls, suffers first loss of season

Toccoa Falls, GA:  On October 10th, the #5 Alice Lloyd College Eagles journeyed to the Peach State to face the challenging Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles (GA) in soccer action. TThe two clubs played to a 4-4 tie earlier in the season in Pippa Passes, so this match would be a battle. The hosts scored a quick goal then added an insurance kick down the stretch to hand the Kentucky crew their first loss of the season, 2-0. 

The Georgia squad struck quickly when they managed to boot a score at the 4:23 mark. This gave them a rapid 1-0 lead. After that, both defenses stepped up, and the score would remain unchanged until intermission.

In the second half, defense was the name of the game as both squads remained stingy. While the Pippa Passes posse allowed no more scores, TF was able to match them and hold the high powered Eagle offense without a goal. As the contest entered the final minutes, the game remained up for grabs.

Finally at 87:33, Toccoa Falls came up with a clutch kick to put them up 2-0. From there, they managed to preserve that advantage until the buzzer sounded, clinching the upset win.

On the day, Alice Lloyd (8-1-2) struggled, as the NCCAA's shot leader (17.8spg) was held to just 5 shots and 4 shots-on-goal for 90 minutes. They were also shut-out for the first time this season. The Falls (7-4-2) finished with 14 shots and 3 shots on goal.

Pippa Passes goalie Kalin Schneider went the distance, suffering the hard-luck loss, allowing 2 goals with 1 save.

Offensively, Justin Harbaugh, Maddux Camden, and Isaiah Maggard each had a shot to score, but unfortunately, none would fill the net.
