March 16th

GAME 1

Alice Lloyd-2; KCU-10

The Lady Eagles scored first, but were outhit as they lost the series opener.

Things started fine as Alexis Morris (2B) opened the contest with a single, and later scored on an error (1-0). However, KCU would answer in the bottom half as 3 doubles with two batters out produced a couple of scores (2-1).

The bottom of the second was the crucial inning as the Knights used two triples to nab 4 big runs, and pull ahead, 6-1.

In the next inning, another double gave KCU a couple of runs (8-1). ALC would try to answer in the fourth.

In that inning, Mckenzie Orfield (3B) doubled, then scored on Chloe Taylors (SS) triple (8-2). However, the rally would fizzleout.

The Knights promptly returned the favor as they used a couple of doubles of their own to pull ahead 10-2 and end the scoring.

At the plate, Morris went 2-3 with a double and had 2 stolen bases, while Taylor's triple accounted for the lone RBI. The Caney club was outhit, 12-5.

Maleigh Mcdaniel suffered the loss on the mound, as she allowed 9 hits and 5 earned runs in 2.2 innings . She struck out 2 batters. Haley Howell tossed the final 1.1 innings, giving up 3 hits and 1 earned run.

GAME 2

Alice Lloyd- 4, KCU - 5

ALC led 4-0 before dropping the late decision to hand the hosts a sweep.

Pitching was solid for both clubs as neither could score for three innings. Finally, in the fourth, ALC broke through.

Lyndsey Adkins (1B) reached base on an error and then advanced on Mcdaniel's single. She then trotted home on Orefield's sacrifice fly (1-0).

The fifth looked even brighter as a Morris double and Adkinssingle led to 3 nice runs (4-0). Unfortunately, the momentum was about to change.

In the bottom of the fifth, a walk and an error helped load the bases. Then KCU deliver a huge triple to clear the runners (4-3). After that, the next batter promptly smacked a double, and the score was suddenly knotted up at 4-4.

In the bottom of the sixth, Kentucky Christian would get another double, then see the runner advance to third. She would later steal home, and just like that, the Grayson squad led 5-4.

Down to their last chance, the Caney Creek crew would gain some hope as an error allowed a runner to reach base. Unfortunately, with the go-ahead run at bat, the contest ended on a liner to the shortstop.

For the Eagles, they were outhit 6-4. Ellie Keene provided 2 RBI's.

On the mound, Baylee Cox pitched well, but suffered the hard-luck loss. She went 6 innings, giving up 6 hits and 4 earned runs, while whiffing 3 batters.

Alice Lloyd committed 2 errors while KCU made 3.
