Lady Eagles Fall in First Game of NCCAA National Championship
Alice Lloyd College fell 5-2 to Wayland Baptist Softball on Monday.
Wayland Baptist Softball got on the scoreboard first in the opening inning when Mikayla Carrillo hit a sacrifice fly to bring home a run.
Wayland Baptist Softball extended its early advantage in the bottom of the third inning after an Alice Lloyd College error and a groundout by Mikenzi Carlo each produced a run.
Kynleigh Kirby earned the win for Wayland Baptist Softball, allowing one hit and no runs over five innings while striking out four and walking two. Kinna Justice took the loss for Alice Lloyd College after pitching four innings and allowing three runs, one earned, on five hits with two strikeouts and no walks.
Whitney Lippert recorded Alice Lloyd College's lone hit, finishing 1-for-3 at the plate. Chloe Taylor led the team with two walks, and Alice Lloyd College showed patience offensively by drawing four walks in the game.
Yaneli Jaramillo led Wayland Baptist Softball offensively by going 2-for-3 at the plate. Berkley Bradley, Carrillo, Carlo, and Brooke McLaurin each recorded an RBI for Wayland Baptist Softball.
