 Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles Drop Decision at Indiana University East, 80-71

Richmond, IN:  The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles held a two-point lead at intermission, but a cold second half proved costly as the homestanding Indiana University East Red Wolves came back to take the decision, 80-71. The matchup took place Saturday afternoon in the Hoosier state.

In the opening period, sophomore guard Katie Jo Moore and senior guard Hannah Kash combined for 18 points and lifted their squad to a 22-19 advantage after ten minutes of play.

In the second quarter, Moore kept up her hot hand as she scored a total of 16 points during the half. Due to her 8-10 accuracy, ALC would take a 37-35 lead at intermission.

 In the third period, the Caney Creek club would have trouble finding the bucket, sinking only 4-17 shots. This would allow East to storm back and take a 55-50 advantage heading into the last quarter.

In the final stanza, the two clubs would battle, and the Pippa Passes club would sink four more field goals, but IUE would win the free throw war 12-2, and pull away for the victory.

For Alice Lloyd (12-4; 5-3 RSC), Moore came up huge, leading the way with 26 points (13-20 FGs). She added four assists, seven rebounds, and three steals. Kash finished with 18 points (6-13 FGs). She dished off five assists and grabbed six boards.

Sophomore McKayla May added 10 points, while junior forward Madison Thompson grabbed 11 caroms to lead all players.

The Eagles shot 40.5% (30-75) from the field and 16.7% (2-12) from long range. They connected on 81.8% (9-11) from the foul line and added 54 rebounds, 16 assists, and seven steals.

IU East (6-11; 5-3 RSC) was paced by Caitlin McEldowney and Addie Brown, both with 16 points. Their squad finished shooting 41.7% (25-60) from the field and 32.1% (9-28) from deep. They connected on 62.5% (20-32) from the foul line. They also added 32 rebounds, 15 assists, and 12 steals.

The Lady Eagles return to action next Thursday when they host the Indiana University Kokomo Cougars. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 pm and will be the opening game in a doubleheader with the Eagles.
