ALC Women’s Basketball drops high scoring affair at Midway University

Midway, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles basketball squad returned to the hardwood on Tuesday afternoon to face the homestanding Midway University Lady Eagles.. The central Kentucky club got out to a blazing start and took the high-scoring matchup, 107-90.

In the first period, MU would grab an early lead, and extend it on their way to a 30-18 advantage.

In the second stanza, the scoring remained frequent as Midway poured in 33 more points. This would help the hosts enter the half possessing a solid 63-35 lead.

In the third period, Alice Lloyd fought to gain ground and produced a nice 31-point stanza. However, they would still trail, 84-66 entering the final ten minutes.

In the last quarter, ALC kept fighting and took the segment, 24-23. Unfortunately, the Midway deficit was simply to great to overcome as the central Kentucky club took the 17 point victor

For ALC (5-9), freshman forward Alivia Morris and junior forward Jamie Cowan finished in double-figures with 17 and 15 points respectively. Cowan also grabbed 10 boards and Morris 6.

In addition, sophomore guard Ashtyn Barrett handed off 5 assists, while Cowan, sophomore guard Elivia Moore and sophomore guard Alyssa Allen all had 2 steals.

On the day, the Lady Eagles shot 45.9% (28-61) from the field, 57.1% (4-7) from long-range, and 76.9% (30-39) from the charity stripe. They added 44 rebounds, 11 assists, and 10 steals.

Midway (7-3) was led by Alexys Moore with 19 points. Her club shot 48.7% (38-78) from the field, 33.3% (6-18) from long-range, and 78.1% (25-32) from the foul line. They also added 40 rebounds, 19 assists and 14 steals.
