Big second half carries ALC Lady Eagles to 80-66 victory over Ohio Christian University

Circleville, OH: The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles ventured to the Buckeye state to face the Ohio Christian Lady Trailblazers in basketball action. The Bluegrass bunch delivered a solid first half, and sailed to a 80-66 victory.

In the first period, after the squads traded buckets, ALC's Elivia Moore heated up, to the tune of 11 points. This pushed her mates to a 22-15 lead after ten minutes.

In the second quarter, the Alice Lloyd defense tightened up, while on offense, seven different Caney-Creekers scored. This 23-13 run helped push the guest advantage to seventeen (45-28) by intermission.

In the third period, the clubs basically matched production the entire way. Although OCU took the quarter 20-18, it would be the Kentucky kids leading 63-48 heading into the final ten minutes.

In the last quarter, the Pippa Passes posse used the scoring of junior forward Jamie Cowan to keep the home team at bay. When the final buzzer sounded ending the festivities, Alice Lloyd was the recipient of a nice 14-point victory.

For ALC (6-9) four players reached double-figures in a balanced attack. Moore led the way with 22 points, drilling 7-9 field goals, including a healthy 5-6 from long range. She added 6 rebounds and 3 steals. She was closely followed by Cowan as she swished 6-9 attempts plus 5-6 charity tosses, for 17 points. She also led the way with 7 rebounds.

Sophomore guard Bailey Stewart and junior guard Kennedy Johnson each came through with 10 points apiece. In addition, Stewart gave away 4 assists and senior guard Aziah Campbell led the team with 5 assists.

On the day, the Lady Eagles finished 44.1% (30-68) from the field, 36.8% (7-19) from long-range, and 72.2% (13-18) from the charity stripe. They added 48 rebounds, 22 assists, and 12 steals.

OCU (1-14) was led by Jordyn Smoot, with 20 points. Her club shot 39.4% (26-66) from the field, 16.7% (2-12) from long-range, and 66.7% (12-18) from the foul line. They added 39 rebounds, 14 assists and 9 steals.
