ALC Lady Eagles take command early, earn 93-39 victory over Ohio Christian

Pippa Passes, KY: The Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles returned home on Saturday, January 17th, to face the Ohio Christian Lady Trailblazers. The hosts were in control from the tipoff as they took the impressive 93-39 victory.

In the first period, sophomore guard Ashtyn Barrett set the pace for the Bluegrass gals as she scored 7 points without a miss. Her crew would double-up the Ohio squad 26-13 after ten minutes of action.

In the second quarter, freshman forward Alivia Morris and junior guard Kennedy Johnson combined for 17 points on 8-8 accuracy to propel the home club to a 19-9 advantage. This lifted the Pippa Passes posse to a solid 45-22 cushion at intermission.

In the third period, any hopes the Trailblazers had of a comeback were quickly dashed as Alice Lloyd had eight players score in a huge 26-5 run. This would send the Lady Eagles into the final stanza leading 71-27.

In the last quarter, the Caney Creek crew would not be threatened, earning a 22-12 advantage. The final horn would seal the win on a monster 54-point victory

For ALC (8-10) two players reached double-figures and thirteen different Lady Eagles dented the scorebook. Morris was perfect from the floor, draining 11-11 attempts for 22 points and added a pair of blocks. Johnson went 6-7 to add 15 points of her own.

In addition, Barrett and junior forward Jamie Cowan both chipped in with 9 points while Cowan hauled down 11 rebounds. Sophomore forward Kaison Ward also corralled 11 boards, Barrett led the way with 3 assists, and sophomore guard Elivia Moore nabbed 3 steals.

On the day, the Lady Eagles finished 50% (40-80) from the field, 22.7% (5-22) from long-range, and 72.7% 8-11) from the charity stripe. They added 49 rebounds, 12 assists, and 15 steals.

OCU (1-17) had no one reach double-digits. Elisha Smith paced the squad with 9 points. Her club shot 25% (15-60) from the field, 9.5% (2-21) from long-range, and 53.8% (7-13) from the foul line. They added 25 rebounds, 12 assists and 5 steals.
