Alice Lloyd Golf Hosts Fall 2022 Invitational

Prestonsburg, KY: The Alice Lloyd College men's and women's golf teams opened the 2022 season by hosting the Eagle Fall Invitational at Stonecrest Golf Course in Prestonsburg, KY, on September 12th and 13th. A total of 36 women and 63 men competed in the tournament.

On the women's side, the University of Pikeville fired a two-day total of 633 to take top honors over six squads and win by 34 strokes. Lady Bear Renee Crooks led the way with her 1st place finish and 152 scores.

The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles had the school's first individual participant in Haleigh Jefferson, who gave a fine effort in her opening match. Her 241-total placed her in 35th place.

For the men, Kentucky State fired a two-day total of 580 to win by 4-strokes against eleven teams. Micah Strangebye led the Thoroughbreds with a solid score of 136 to take top honors.

For Alice Lloyd, the squad would fire a 655 and finish in 8th place. They were led by Mason Compton, who fired a 77 each day, finished with a 154 score, and tied for 17th place. Korey Hanson shot 158 to finish in a tie for 28th.

Other finishers included: Jacob Rowe, (170 - 47th), Chase Petry (173 - T49th), Shad Sauvage (177 - 54th), and Hayden Halbert (182 - 56th).

Next up for the Eagles golf team is the NCCAA Mideast Regional in Richmond, KY, on September 19/20.
