Louisville, KY: On Saturday, September 9th, the Alice Lloyd College Lady Eagles volleyball team traveled to Louisville for a doubleheader against Cincinnati Clermont and Boyce College. Both contests were challenging and went to the home teams on the scoreboard, 3-0.
Game One
UC Clermont-3; ALC-1
Against Clermont, every game was a nail-biter. In set 1, the score was close throughout. With UC leading 20-17, ALC rolled off a 5-2 burst to tie the score at 22-22. Then Lady Eagle Kyleah Ward slammed the door shut with three consecutive kills to hand the Caney Creek crew the win, 25-22.
In set 2, ALC put up a battle, but Clermont managed to pull away from an 11-11 tie and slip out to a five-point lead. They would hold that en route to a 25-20 decision.
In set 3, UCC crept out to a 14-9 advantage, forcing an Eagle timeout. From there, the Pippa Passes squad fought back to tie at 23-23. Unfortunately, two errors gave the big-city team the win, 25-23.
In set 4, the two contestants battled furiously to a 21-21 tie. However, once again, the Cincinnati ladies made the big plays at the end and took the match, 25-22.
For the match, Kristin Isaac and Taylor Hamilton led ALC with 17 and 16 assists, respectively. T.K Ellis. smashed 12 kills while Ward, Lakyn Porter, and Akira Keathley each added 8. In addition, Caroline Parsons produced 39 digs, Ward recorded two blocks, and four different players contributed a kill.
Game Two
Boyce-3; ALC-0
The opening set saw Boyce come out ready from the onset as they raced out to a big lead to win going away, 25-10.
In set 2, leading 6-4, the Louisville squad closed with a massive 19-4 blitzkrieg to win 25-8.
In set 3, the Eastern Kentucky team pulled ahead 8-7, only to witness the Bulldogs unleash a huge 18-2 attack to win going away, 25-10.
On the day, Isaac led ALC in assists with 4, while Brooklyn Cheek paved the way in kills with 3. Gracie Gibson sparked the club with 13 digs, while Parsons recorded the lone ace.
