Alice Lloyd Volleyball Defeats Welch College in NCCAA Mideast Regional Tournament

Gallatin, TN: The #3 seeded Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles volleyball team took to the road on Monday, November 6th, to face the home-standing, #2-seeded Welch College Lady Flames in the semi-final round of the NCCAA Mideast Regional Tournament. In an exciting and close contest, the Lady Eagles would come away with a 3-1 win.

In set 1, the home club quickly took a slight lead, but the game remained tight throughout. WC would eventually take the opener, 25-22.

In set 2, ALC would go ahead first and then trade points with their foes. Finally, the Kentucky girls would close with an error by the hosts to take the win, 25-21.

In set 3, the game was nip-and-tuck the entire way, as the fans got their money's worth. The game saw many ties, with the last one coming at 25. Fortunately, the Kentucky girls would take the final two points to win, 27-25.

In set 4, Alice Lloyd led from the start and would pull out to a 19-14 advantage. Later, leading 24-19, they would see the Lady Flames score 3 consecutive points to get within two (24-22). Fortunately, a nice drop shot would fall past the arms of a Welch player, giving the Lady Eagles the match, 25-22.

Alice Lloyd now advances to today's championship, where they will face the region's top seed, the Boyce College Bulldogs. The contest starts at 7:00 pm (EST).
