Alice Lloyd Eagles Volleyball earns tough sweep in Tennessee
Powell, TN: On October 1st, the Alice Lloyd College Eagles journeyed to the Volunteer state to tussle with the Crown College Crusaders. In an evenly-played match ALC pulled off the close sweep.
In the opener, the two squads battled point for point, but Alice Lloyd crept out to a small lead. The contest went down to the wire, but the Eagles produced the final two points to win, 26-24.
Game 2 started the same way as the two combatants traded points. However, with the scoreboard reading 18-17, The Pippa Passes posse would once again make the clutch plays when they needed them, and win, 25-22.
In Game 3, the Kentucky ladies pulled out to a slight lead, only to see the host club fight back. However, the visitors refused to be denied as they pulled away down the stretch to take the game 25-21, and seal the match.
For the contest, Kyleah Ward, Tianna Wesley and Jadyn Hall provided the kills (8,7, 6), while Taylor Cox delivered 19 assists. Ward and Camryn Thompson tied with 2 service aces, and Ward led with 6 blocks. Gracie Gibson came through with 23 digs.
Alice Lloyd (5-11) returns to the hardwood this weekend for three road matches. On October 4th, they journey to Shawnee State University. This will be followed the next day with a double header at Beckley, West Virginia, against West Virginia Tech University and Appalachian Bible.
