Alice Lloyd Volleyball Opens 2025 Season with Road Split

Circleville, OH – The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles volleyball team opened their 2025 season on Saturday, August 23, with a trip to the Buckeye State for a challenging tri-match. The Lady Eagles first squared off against the tough Boyce College Lady Bulldogs before meeting the host Ohio Christian University Lady Trailblazers. When the day was done, Alice Lloyd came away with a hard-fought split.

Match 1: Lady Eagles 3, Boyce 2

The Lady Eagles (1-0) kicked off their season with a thrilling five-set victory over Boyce (0-1).

  • Set 1: Tied at 10-10, ALC strung together a decisive 10-3 run to close out the opener, 25-16.

  • Set 2: A back-and-forth battle ended with Boyce edging out the Lady Eagles, 25-23.

  • Set 3: Alice Lloyd came out strong, building a commanding 16-8 lead and holding firm for a 25-19 win.

  • Set 4: The Bulldogs answered, pulling ahead 15-12 and forcing a deciding set with a 25-18 victory.

  • Set 5: Boyce surged to a quick 5-1 advantage, but the Lady Eagles rallied to knot things at 9-9. With the Bulldogs up 12-9, ALC responded behind kills from Rose Scotello and a clutch finish from Christa Amburgey, sealing the dramatic 15-13 win.

In their second contest, the Lady Eagles (1-1) faced a sharp Ohio Christian squad (2-0) and dropped the match in straight sets.

  • Set 1: The Trailblazers stormed out to a 17-6 advantage and never looked back, taking it 25-12.

  • Set 2: OCU led 19-12 before the Lady Eagles battled back with a 9-4 run to close within 23-19, but the hosts held on for the 25-19 win.

  • Set 3: Despite a determined effort, Alice Lloyd couldn't recover from an early deficit, falling 25-13.
