Red-hot Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles volleyball continues record setting play, earn 20th victory

Pippa Passes, KY:  The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles volleyball team journeyed to Charlotte, North Carolina on Saturday, October 25th for a doubleheader. In Game 1, they would face NCAA DIII Johnson and Wales University, while Game 2 was a matchup against NCAA DII Johnson C. Smith University. Once the last spike had been recorded, the Bluegrass ladies would take both contests, earn their ninth win in the last ten games, and lift their record to an impressive 20-8. Johnson and Wales drops to 6-18 while JC Smith moves to 5-14.

 

Match 1

ALC-3; Johnson & Wales-0

The Eagles would take a three-set win in the opening match over the host club.

In game 1, the contest was close the entire way as ALC battled throughout. Finally, with the score knotted at 23-23, the Kentucky crew would come through with a pair of huge clutch plays to win, 25-23.

Game 2 saw the Pippa Passes posse take a slight lead and fight to hold on. Once more, down the stretch, ALC made the championship plays to win, 25-22.

Game 3, saw the Bluegrass brutes ready to end things, and they took an early lead. From there they would remain in control and pull away for the nice 25-16 match-clinching victory.

On the day, Kylie Ward and Taylon Hoskins led the club with 11 and 10 kills respectively, Gracie Gibson and Camryn Thompson provided 6 digs each while Peyton Taylor dished off 25 assists. Thompson led everyone with 2 service aces.

For the match, the victors led in kills (39-26) and assists (29-21) while the hosts led in digs (28-24) and aces (7-4).

 

Match 2

ALC-3; Johnson C. Smith-1

For the second-straight match, the Kentucky club would perform well and earn the big victory.

In Game 1, the home team took an early lead and remained in control the entire way. They would eventually roll to the 25-15 win.

Game 2 saw the Lady Eagles respond with determination as the two squads traded points throughout. The game would go down to the wire, but the Lady Eagles scored the big points down the stretch to pull out the 25-22 victory.

Game 3, saw the Kentucky club play brilliantly as they jumped out to a huge lead. Alice Lloyd would click on all cylinders as they mowed down JC Smith, 25-8.

Game 4 saw the two clubs trade points early, but the Bluegrass bombers slowly began to gain some separation. By the conclusion of the game, ALC had earned the match-clinching 25-18 victory.

For the match, Christa Amburgey (9) and Rose Scotello (8) handled the kills. while Thompson and Gibson delivered 7 digs apiece. Taylor dished out 32 assists while Gibson led the crew with 4 service aces.

For the match, the winning team led in kills (36-34), digs (30-19), assists (34-29), and aces (8-5).
