Alice Lloyd volleyball concludes regular season with sweep, record moves to 22-8

Pippa Passes, KY:  The Alice Lloyd Lady Eagles volleyball team returned home on Saturday, November 1st for a regular season finale against the Boyce Lady Bulldogs. The contest marked senior day for Christa Amburgey and Kylie Ward. The two veterans went out on a high note as they helped lead their club to an impressive sweep. The squad remains red-hot as ALC now enters tournament play riding a 22-8 record, the best in school history. Additionally, the win was the Lady Eagles 8th consecutive and 11th in their past 12 games. Boyce drops to 7-15 on the season

The Eagles would take a solid three-game sweep, marking their 12th shutout in 30 games.

In game 1, the contest was close early as the score was tied 9-9. From there, the Caney Creek crew went on a impressive 16-5 blitz to pull away for the 25-14 victory.

Game 2 was tight with the squads changing shots. Later, clinging to a 13-12 lead, the Pippa Passes posse rolled off a nice 9-2 run to move ahead, 22-14. The Louisville squad made things interesting as they responded with a 6-0 run to get within two (22-20). However, a trio of Eagle scores was just what the home fans ordered as they saw their ladies win, 25-20.

 

Game 3, saw the Pippa Passes posse jump out to a 15-7 lead. Although the Lady Bulldogs would fight back to get within three at 20-17, the hosts would close with a 5-1 burst to clich the sweep, 25-18.

On the day, Amburgey and Taylon Hoskins led the club with 6 kills each, and Ward netted 5. Gracie Gibson and Peyton Taylor both provided 12 digs while Taylor dished off 26 assists. Gibson led everyone with 3 service aces.

For the match, the visitors led in kills (31-26), assists (31-25), and digs (44-43), while the squads tied in aces (4-4). However, Alice Lloyd won where it counted the most.

ALC now advances to the NCCAA Mideast Regional Tournament scheduled for Friday, November 7th-8th. The Lady Eagles will be the top seed and host the tournament.
