Pippa Passes, KY: On September 26th, the Alice Lloyd College Eagles traveled to Northern Kentucky University to battle the University of Cincinnati Clermont Cougars (4-2-2). In a contest that was close to the end, the Cougars pulled out the 3-1 win.
The first half saw the Caney Creek crew strike first. At the 10:26 mark. Ethan Perkins took a feed from Dylan Moore and pounded it in the net for a 1-0 Eagle lead.
However, the Cougars would soon tie things at 22:13 on a kick of their own. The score would remain unchanged until intermission
In the second half, everything remained the same until 50:20, when UCC connected once more (2-1). The Ohio club then gained some breathing room at 57:46 when they were able to produce a big score (3-1).
In the meantime, Alice Lloyd was never able to get the big goal they needed to gain some momentum. Consequently, the contest would end in favor of the Cincinnati club.
On the day, UCC kept the pressure on, firing 34 shots, compared to ALC's 7. In the critical second half, the shot attempts were 20-1. Corner kicks favored the victors 11-1.
ALC goalie Joseph Westphal was solid once again behind the net as he allowed 3 scores while registering 18 saves. Overall, the squad battled hard, but the shots-on-goal discrepancy proved tough to overcome.
Perkins had the big goal, with Moore gaining the assist.
The Eagles (0-3-1) return to action on Monday, October 3rd, when they travel to Powell (TN) to play Crown College at 4:00 pm.
